Selected tile glazes have undergone standardized testing by The Tile Council of America. Test results indicate that the ‘gloss white’, ‘satin white', 'gloss ivory' and ‘satin ivory’ glazes are well suited for residential and light commercial applications**.

 

ASTM C1027: “Standard Test Method for Determining Visible Abrasion Resistance of Glazed Ceramic Tile”


Results: 1200 revolutions/Class III – Floor coverings in areas that are walked on quite often with normal footwear and small amounts of scratching dirt (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, halls, terraces)

 

Mohs’ Scratch Hardness Test


Result: #6
(The Mohs’ Scratch Hardness Scale runs from 1 [talc] to 10 [diamond]

 

ASTM C650: “Resistance of Ceramic Tile to Chemical Substances”


Result: Showed no variation after being immersed in both a 10% hydrochloric acid solution and a 10% potassiumhydroxide solution at 75°F for 24 hours.

 

** The test results do not apply to the crackle glaze (‘crackle white) or the accent glazes.
